Black star diopside is a natural stone displaying four-pointed asterism, much like a star sapphire. The galactic apparition, which appears and slides across the surface of the stone in relation to a direct and concentrated light source, is the result of structured inclusions within the mineral that disrupt the regular course of light entering the stone.
Though this effect is subtle and very difficult to photograph, it is present here.
