Tourmaline in Quartz Bone Ring

Regular price $145.00

This listing is for an emerald-cut tourmalinated quartz (sometimes called black rutilated quartz) solitaire ring with skeletal bone pattern shank, in the style of memento mori jewelry. Choose gold or sterling silver.

I hand fabricate this ring from sterling silver or gold wire and natural genuine tourmaline included quartz from start to finish. The bone pattern is plotted and hand-carved by me into the metal. Each ring is unique.

(This listing is for the tourmalinated quartz ring only. Check my shop, or message me, for availability of any of the other rings pictured.)

Inspired by the tradition of "memento mori" keepsakes, trinkets referencing "memento mori", which means "remember that you will die" in Latin, can serve as a reminder that our individual lives are finite, and therefore we should prioritize what we love and be true to our moral compasses .

The ring houses an emerald-cut tourmalinated quartz, which is 8mm by 6mm. Approximately 1.50cts. Tourmalinated quartz is created when needle-like crystals of black tourmaline form in clear quartz crystal. It is often mislabeled as rutilated quartz, which is an entirely different mineral inclusion called rutile. I select my tourmalinated quartz stones for a nice density of "sticks" to quartz, so while each stone varies, they will all have a similar, even but not overpowering, dispersion of tourmaline. I think the black lines in the clear stone compliment the oxidation and style of the ring.

This style would make a fabulous engagement ring in white or yellow gold, for a bride who wants something feminine and classic, but with an edge.

You can see the other stones and cuts available in my shop here: https://www.etsy.com/shop/PhetteplaceDesigns/search?search_query=knuckled&order=date_desc&view_type=list&ref=shop_search

Include the size you would like in the "notes to seller" at checkout. If you would like this ring with a stone that you don't see in my shop, send me a custom order request, and I'll be happy to look into the options :)
